Biographical:
Cornelius "Corney" Donald Bell was a City Photographer for the City of Atlantic City and a free lance photographer for the Press of Atlantic City. He was born on February 7, 1935 in Atlantic City and attended public schools in Atlantic City. He had two children – David Tavares and Tera Rochelle Davis, and he was a member of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Atlantic City. Bell passed away on March 15, 2012 at the age of 77.

Scope and Content:
This collection contains two boxes. One box contains just the vest and is located in storage. The other box contains photographs, a photo album, two cameras, a set of keys and miscellaneous papers from his brief case. One folder of photographs has been donated by a separate donor, and the Atlantic City Heritage Collections has the digital files of these photographs.

Many of the photographs in the collection are of unidentified people. Some people have been identified, but most are unidentified portraits. Also, there is no date for the photographs in the collection.

System of Arrangement:
The collection is arranged in one series. Most of the items are in one box, except the vest of Bell, which is located in storage. It contains four folders of photographs, one folder of miscellaneous materials, two cameras, a set of keys and a vest. There was no apparent original order to the collection. Photographs were removed from the envelopes they were developed in and placed in acid-free envelopes for preservation purposes.

Preservation and Access Note:
The photographs in the collection are in good condition, but are not placed in individual sleeves. Gloves need to be worn to look at the photographs in the collection. Folder 4 contains print outs of digital images that were scanned. The Atlantic City Heritage Collections does not have the original images, but they are available to view digitally. Please contact the archivist if you would like to see the digital copies of these images.
