This book was very good. It was intriguing with many surprises, but in my opinion, not as good as the first book. I was more intrigued by the parts of the story told by John about his road trip with Sam, Six, and Bernie Kosar, but Marina’s side of the story had more surprises……
In Spain, Marina and her Cepan Adelina secretly blend in with the humans at a Catholic orphanage. Marina is number seven and her Legacies are starting to develop, but while Marina dreams of returning to Lorien, Adelina has lost hope and plans on staying on Earth. Marina quickly befriends a young girl named Ella, who is new to the orphanage. While living her new life, Marina becomes suspicious of Mogadorians, but Adelina refuses to believe it. Will they get caught by the enemy?
On the road, John, Sam, Six, and Bernie Kosar face new problems. John and Sam are now considered national terrorists, and there is a big reward for their arrest. Plus, with Henri gone, John has to rely on himself and Six to learn how to use his Chest (a.k.a. his inheritance) and train to be a warrior. Additionally, Sam and John are both swooning over six, but John faces a choice between the mysterious Loric warrior,Six, or his human girlfriend from Paradise, Sarah. After Six leaves to find seven in Spain, John and Sam set off to find John’s Chest which was stolen earlier. Can the six remaining Garde come together to fight as one?
